Documents, Decisions, Discussions, and, sometimes, NEWS!

August 23, 2008: NOTICE: The Colorado Springs Area Service Office will be closed on Saturday, August 30. You can find literature and Service Office staff at the State Convention over that weekend. See you there!

July 1, 2008: To Colorado Springs Fellowship, Your C/S Intergroup Board has been in place for about 90 days, we are very excited to serve. We dove into service with a smile, but we have inherited a poor economy and a high budget for our local area. Our task being: A. To spend within our income from group contributions. B. To cut cost where we can, while still serving the wet drunks. We will be moving as soon as our lease is up in December, to a smaller more economical space. Part of the plan is to realize that we have to make choices and be accountable for them. It’s our challenge to carry the message, to the still suffering alcoholics, and we must be responsible to reach correct service principals. For every decision we make we want the power of your group consciousness with us. There’s nothing greater than the group, nothing greater for the growth of C/S than the principle of work and unselfish service to our program. We need to refer to the group’s responsibility to provide the necessities for running the S.O. The health of the program and S.O. business depends on the support of our C/S fellowship. With a new Service Office manager Robin A. (21yrs.) in place. She brings great skill in running a well managed office. She brings high skills in computers, booking keeping and years running an office.

What we really have to turn to in this discussion is the service of one drunk sharing with another drunk. How best to accomplish this? We must nurture the S.O. growth. We are asking each member to put a $1.50 in the basket at your home group. We have been putting $1.00 in since the fellowship was organized. One draft beer would cost more than a $1.50; I surely drank more than one draft a day. Please help us meet the rising cost by considering this thought; we need to be accountable for the doors staying open for the still suffering drunks. We want and need your group thoughts and idea’s spoken through your IG rep. You do have influence in our decisions; we feel it’s a privilege to serve you. Simply share your experience, strength and hope with us. We are extending an invitation to all C/S fellowship to join us on Saturday, July 26th for a S.O. open house with barbequed Brats. Come enjoy camaraderie and share in many service opportunities that need your support. Bring your sponsee’s and enjoy the fun! Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. Truly in service, Colorado Springs Intergroup Board

June 13, 2008: Questions have been raised about the prudent reserve for Intergroup and the Service Office; namely "what is it and why is it needed". A prudent reserve is money used to offset unexpected reductions in normal revenue.  The Intergroup Board of Directors is responsible for setting the reserve amount and last year made it three months of operating expenses. Expenses for the five months since January 1, 2008 have averaged $7,383 per month. Three times that amount is $22,149. The Prudent Reserve listed on the Balance Sheet as of May 31 is $22,210, a difference of $61. Hope this answers the questions.

April 22, 2008: Notice to folks planning to chair at Detox: temporarily, the admission process is to allow only one person from AA in to chair a meeting. They appreciate the cooperation of groups in this matter. If you know people who have Detox chairing service obligations, please let them know*. Thanks!

Reminder: you can get the Pint sent electronically to your email. Just forward your email address and request to the Pint editor*.

We are still interested to know whether you use the online schedule. If you do, would you like to be able to search within it for certain keywords, such as women's, big book, etc.?  Let me know*.

Money, money, money: Area Service Office is still in need of a greater income; if you are able, please consider three tactics to help:

put a little more - even change-  in the basket, and encourage others to do so also

buy your literature and coins from the Service Office; prices and inventory are listed on this site  (see Home page, About Us)

Donate in honor of your own or someone else’s anniversary of sobriety—and encourage others to do this as well.

Try it – you may find that the joy of giving is part of the joy of living.

“The joy of living is the theme of A.A.'s Twelfth Step, and action is its key word.”
